Cher is, without a doubt, one of the most eccentric and controversial divas of our time and I'm very impressed with Mattel's Barbie-sized sculpt of Cher, but I felt that I could improve upon the factory facial paint.

So , as I always do, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted the doll to create a faithful replica of Cher's features particularly as she looked during the 1970s and especially inspired by her look in her "Half Breed" video, where she wears a Native American fantasy costume designed by the famous Bob Mackie.

The doll's hair has been also been reworked. I gave it a light trim and then thinned down the thickness of the doll's hair by running the scissors along the length of the hair.

The inset photo on the bottom middle shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
