This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by Vivien Leigh's much acclaimed portrayal as Scarlett O'hara from the now timeless classic, "Gone With The Wind", particularly as she looked from the final scene in the movie where she declares the famously immortal line "Tomorrow is another day!".

I used a 16-inch Scarlett O'hara doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to more faithfully replicate Vivien Leigh as Scarlett from that particular scene I had to pay careful attention to have the doll's expression reflect the same somber mood and expression of Scarlett from the closing scene.

The doll's hair has been completely and elaborately restyled just as in the movie. In the process, I had to root in additional hair.

The photo on the lower left shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

-- acrylic paint and ultra fine brushes

I thought it was Mary Poppins for a moment.
