[link] Jack Sparrow is clearly one of my all-time favorite movie characters, perfectly portrayed by the briliant Johnny Depp.
Although, I've done a few Jack Sparrow dolls previously, no two are ever alike. This one in particular is unique for its different facial expression and the level of detail, which I mus say is my most detailed rendering of Jack to date - which includes authentic hair ornaments including the handcrafted ornament to resemeble his reindeer shinbone. Also, his clothes and accessories have been hand distressed. The tattoo and handpainted bandana are also in place.
I use a 17-inch Tonner doll for this recreation. The inset photo shows the doll in its original factory state
As with all my creations, I completely strip the original factory paint on each of the dolls, and completely repaint the facial features in, paying attention to accuracy of likeness and lifelike expressions. The doll also underwent extensive hair restyling - each dreadlock has been carefully created to match the character's. Also, dreadlocks in two additional shades were added and secured in place like hair extensions.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

When I say that I mean depth, LOL
