[link]This is my latest interpretation of Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow figure using Tonner Co's factory produced 17-inch Jack Sparrow. I actually like this rendition better than my last one.
Although Tonner's factory produced Jack Sparrow is a nice depiction, I felt it needed to be more authentic in terms of hairstyling and resemblance to Johnny Depp. So I removed all factory facial paint and completely repainted the doll to more closely resemble Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack. Also, the original hair started out just being plain with a little bit of wave and braids to it. So, I reworked it and created the dreadlocks just like the real character's. Also, I handpainted Jack's tattoo (see top inset photo) as seen in the movie, as well as the pattern on his bandana, which originally was just a plain red color. Finally, the hair ornaments were repositioned to look more accurate.
The inset photo in the bottom middle shows the mass-produced version prior to my repaint.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
