This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by Vivien Leigh's much acclaimed portrayal as Scarlett O'hara from the now timeless classic, "Gone With The Wind".
I used a 16-inch Scarlett O'hara doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to more faithfully replicate Vivien Leigh as Scarlett. The doll's hair has been slightly trimmed, then reworked to a more proper scale and framing of her face and to more accurately mimic the character's hairstyle from the opening scene of the movie.
The photo on the bottom shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
