In August 1999 I had the pleasure of attending the Hollywood Ahoy doll convention aboard the Queen Mary ship in Long Beach, California. During this three-day event a special tribute was given to the legendary Joan Crawford, wherein her grandson and heir apparent Casey Lalonde held a special screening of Joan Crawford's home movie which had never been publicly shown.
In the home video, we see Joan as she really was - freckled face, playful and carefree. She also wore a blue and white sunsuit, which Robert Tonner replicated exclusively for this doll convention. Please see the doll's ebay auction to view a freeze frame image of Joan that inspired this repaint.
