Orlando Bloom shot to fame with his epic portrayal of Legolas from the film adaptation of J.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings". This doll pays tribute to this beloved character.
I used a 17-inch Tonner Co - produced Legolas doll here. I completely removed factory facial painting and repainted it by hand to resemble Orlando Bloom as Legolas in Lord of the Rings. Extensive facial shading and contouring were needed to bring the character's lifelike essence. Also, the hair needed to be reworked quite a bit for better scale and proportion in relation to the face
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
-- acrylic paint and ultra fine brushes
