I am yet again pleased to share my newest addition to my miniature Twilight creations. She is Alice Cullen, the Twilight vampire with telepathic abilities, as portrayed by up and coming star Ashley Greene. This was an exciting project as it involved a brand new character and celebrity.
The doll I used is a 16-inch Alice Cullen doll by Robert Tonner. As is very common with mass produced celebrity or character dolls, the sculpt is usually spot on but the factory facial paint fails to bring out the true essence and likeness of the character/celebrity being portrayed.
Full facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over were needed to replicate the features of Ashely Greene as Alice Cullen.
The inset photo on the bottom shows the mass produced version as originally released.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
-- acrylic paint and ultra fine brushes

I think the original factory paint is forgivable compared to the original hair.... That doesn't even look like they tried...
