As with many of you, Michael Jackson's sudden death was a devastating loss. I adore his music and artistry and have collected his albums through the years. Incidentally, I also collected a few 12-inch Michael Jackson dolls. As a tribute to his legacy, I have decided to transform one of them into Michael Jackson's look in his "Black or White" musical performance. His song "Black or White" sends a very powerful message about embracing racial diversity and I thought that I would create a doll befitting of his iconic image.
The doll underwent extensive hairstyling and partial hair rerooting, as the the doll originally had hair only along the hairline. Next, was to transform the doll's face to capture Jackson's essence particularly from the "Black or White" video.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

wow you only used acrylic paint to re-paint this doll? I'm thinking of buying a cheap one and re-painting it and wondered if the paint would crust off? or if u added any kind of sealant to it?
but the factory doll looks like a woman...
