Michael Jackson's music has inspired me since my childhood and many of his songs have actually been songs of my life. Therefore, it is only fitting that I pay tribute to a great artist who has inspired me a great deal.

Seeing the Michael Jackson figure produced by Hot Toys, I knew I had to take the opportunity to create a custom repaint, especially as it is perhaps his most popular and certainly iconic song and video as well.

This deviation depicts Michael Jackson as himself as he looked in the Thriller music video. Full facial repaint to bring out the true essence of MJ. Hair sections along the forehead have been carefully resculpted and painted to create a softer, more natural look.

The MJ Hot Toys set originally came with two interchangeable heads, one of MJ as himself and one as a zombie.

The inset photo on the bottom middle shows the mass produced version of the Hot Toys MJ head as it was originally released.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
