This photo was taken last year shortly after creating this custom repainted 17-inch Elvira which sold on ebay last year and is now in a private collection. However, since Halloween is approaching, I thought I'd share this image here.
This doll underwent hair restyling to better replicate Elvira's. As with all my custom repainted dolls, I remove the original factory makeup. I then repaint the character's features paying attention to precision and accuracy as well as true to life facial expression.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
