One of the most prominent female celebrities of our time! Cher has such interesting multi-faceted persona. This repaint depicts a very young Cher inspired by her looks and makeup around the beginning of her career in the 60s/70s.
The inset photo is a publicity photo which is the reference photo I used for this repaint.
I used a 16-inch Sybarite doll produced by Superdoll of London. Sybarites are high-end collector ball-jointed resin dolls that are capable of achieving lifelike poses. Original factory paint was completely removed and fully repainted very painstakingly to resemble a young Cher.
Also, the doll's orginal platinum blonde wig was carefully removed and replaced with a long black wig similar to Cher's hair style in the photo.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
-- acrylic paint and ultra fine brushes
(Note: I am not in any way affiliated with Superdoll - creator of this resin doll)
but when i look at young cher i cant help but think that her face has way more character now that shes older...
