I was commissioned to create this Madonna doll by an ardent British fan of Madonna, and I simply could not resist the opportunity. One of my favorite Madonna looks was from this period when she first emerged into the music scene with the punk rock 80s hair style and feathered eyebrows. This doll's particularly look is based upon her character from the movie "Desperately Seeking Susan".
Thorough hair styling and facial contouring were needed to bring Madonna's essence to life.
The clothes were also commissioned specifically for this doll created by a very talented doll seamstress and replicates Madonna's famous outfit from the movie, right down to the minute accessories.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

I <3 Madonna!!! Especially her movies from the 80's 'Desperately Seeking Susan' and 'Who's That Girl' - Great movies to watch and to just escape into!!! This doll definitely brings back those 1980's memories!!!
Oh my god, it's Madonna from Desperately Seeking Susan, one of my favorite Madonna movies ever! wow this is...so uncanny to the real Madonna. You're so awesome at painting a barbie dolls face to fit Madonna's signature features!
