This celebrity doll repaint is inspired by Rachelle Lefevre's character, Victoria, one of the menacing nomadic trio of vampires from the movie Twilight.
I used a 16-inch Victoria doll produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. Again, typical of mass manufacture dolls, this one needed to be precision repainted to bring out the essence of Lefevre's character.
Factory paint completely removed and fully repainted with utmost accuracy and attention to subtle details.
The hair underwent trimming and restyling to replicate Victoria's hair style. Last, I hand painted delicate lines of hair along the hairline to soften the overall look.
The inset photo on the bottom shows the mass produced version of the Victoria doll as it was originally factory painted.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
