This celebrity doll repaints are each inspired by their respective characters in the nomadic trio of vampires from the movie Twilight, namely Edi Gathegi as Laurent , Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria and Cam Gigandet as James.

I used the mass produced Twilight dolls by Robert Tonner Doll company. As is often the case with production dolls, the essential details are lacking and often needed to be precision hand repainted to bring out the true likeness of the actor/character being depicted.

Each of these dolls underwent complete and extensive facial repaint as well as meticulous hair restyling. In addition, each received body shading and handpaintedchests/breasts. The James doll received a handpainted tattoo.

The inset photos next to each doll show the mass produced version of each of the doll as they were originally factory painted.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
