Here's yet another celebrity repaint I did in late 2007. My inspiration was Madonna a she appeared at the 1991 Academy Awards where she performed the soundtrack to her then movie, "Dick Tracy".
I used a 16-inch Tonner doll called Shimmering Queen with a face mold called Shauna/Sweetheart. I thought the doll bore a resemblance to Madonna's features, so I decided to go for it.
Factory facial paint was completely removed and the doll fully repainted in the likeness of Madonna. Doll's hair style was also transformed to replicate Madonna's during said Academy Awards.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
-- acrylic paint and ultra fine brushes
(Note: I am not in any way affiliated with Tonner Co.)
