Elizabeth Tayor possesses one of the most beautiful faces in Holywood. It is then no wonder that she was chosen to portray one of the most legendary characters in history. Her role as Cleopatra in the 1963 epic version showcased her piercing beauty as well as her acting range.
So , as I always do, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted the doll to infuse it with the essence and character of Elizabeth Taylor as seen in the movie. This was achieved with an exacting level of accuracy as well as shading and layering of colors, some of which are very subtle. This was all intended to bring out the luminescence Taylor radiated in the movie.
The inset photo on the bottom middle shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise as well as carefully paying attention to proper scale.

When I was growing up, Elizabeth was one of my idols~ It was saddening to learn that she had died.
