This celebrity doll repaint recreates the likeness of our newest James Bond, hunky Daniel Craig.

I used a 17-inch Lord Asriel doll produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. The inset photo on the lower left hand side shows the factory doll with its original factory facial painting. Although, it was supposed to be an authorized likeness of Daniel Craig, in my opinion the doll fell short of capturing the likeness of the actor.

The first step in the makeover process is to recreate Daniel Craig's hair style and approximate the actor's hairline. This was achieved through careful trimming, shaping and reworking of his wigged hair. Lastly, I apply styling gel to keep the style in place.

Next, I completely removed factory facial painting. I then hand painted it to bring the likeness of Craig with meticulous attention to his facial nuances. Five o-clock shadow was also delicately painted.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness. Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
