Jack Sparrow is clearly one of my all-time favorite movie characters, perfectly portrayed by the brilliant Johnny Depp.
Although, I've done a few Jack Sparrow dolls previously, no two are ever alike. This one in particular is unique for its scale. This is the first Jack Sparrow I have created on a 1/6 scale (12 inch). Also, this repaint is based from the latest installment of POTC , "On Stranger Tides".
I used a Mattel Jack Sparrow doll for this recreation. As with all my creations, I completely strip the original factory paint on each of the dolls, and completely repaint the facial features in, paying attention to accuracy of likeness and lifelike expressions. The doll also underwent extensive hair restyling - each dredlock has been carefully created to match the character's. In addition, I hand painted Jack's sparrow tattoo and his branded "P" mark.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

Gosh... I remember crying when I saw this, and remembering I didn't have the money. So many memories of a fond good time surrounding the release of those films, it's such a reminder. Now it just hurts to look at the guy! Great job, though.
