My most recent 11 1/2 inch Cher doll repaint. The base doll used was Mattel's Timeless Treasures Bob Mackie Cher. This version features hairstyle with no bangs.
Complete removal of original paint then given a full facial repaint as well as a rework of the hair to replicate the pop icon. Note that hairline was also handpainted to add a more realistic appearance.
The inset photo on the bottom shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.
-- acrylic paint and ultra fine brushes
(Note: I am not in any way affiliated with Mattel.)
